The Dance Program is designed for students who demonstrate a natural ability and high interest in dance. Students are introduced to a wide range of dance experiences and activities which enhance basic movement, technique, and creativity. Instruction is divided into four major areas of performance: Ballet, Modern Dance, Jazz, and Tap. Instruction is also given in dance history, choreography and Lab notation. The specially constructed dance studio, measuring over 1500 square feet, is fully equipped with separate dressing rooms for boys and girls, hardwood floors, mirrored wall, and bars, to meet the needs of all forms of dance activities. The goal of the dance program is to help each student develop a movement vocabulary from which creativity, interest, and personal success can be achieved. Criteria for selection is based upon students’ poise, balance, flexibility, stamina, performance style, and attitude. |

The mission of this Science Magnet is to offer a comprehensive education that provides students with a strong academic foundation for life-long learning, caring relationships with others and a passion for environmental stewardship. The mission statement of this program is “Every Day Is Earth Day” and its motto for success is “Be The Best You Can Be.” The Science Magnet Program at Rainbow Park is a part of the district’s “School Of Choice” initiative where parents and students who have an interest in Science will have the opportunity to participate in an interdisciplinary approach to education. This will provide students with a hands-on learning experience and also provide an atmosphere conducive to independent thinking. Rainbow Park’s Magnet Science program offers students the opportunity to use the outdoors as a “living classroom.” This experience will provide and facilitate an understanding of and an appreciation for nature. Some of the goals of the program are to nurture independence and responsibility in students through project based learning. Throughout the year students will participate in field trips; which will give them the opportunity to participate in unique learning experiences. Laboratory experiments and outdoor activities on the school grounds will also provide a hands-on approach to learning and focus on scientific thematic units that lead to student development, problem solving skills, cooperative learning and creative thinking abilities. |

Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Johan Nebb has had a lifelong passion for music. Mr. Nebb received his bachelors and masters degrees in music from the University of Miami. Mr. Nebb’s principal instrument is the guitar; |
|
However, he specializes in all string instruments and incorporates them into his Magnet Music Program. You may find his class playing with the ukuleles or performing in a full string orchestra with violins, violas, cellos and double basses. Mr. Nebb has had many of his students go on to perform in the Superintendent’s Honors String Music Festival. In addition to string instruments, students will perform with keyboard and percussion instruments and also participate in chorus. Students will also learn about composers ranging from jazz to pop, and Latin to classical. Mr. Nebb’s students will experience various types of music from different cultures and ethnic backgrounds. Students will have extensive training in various musical techniques so that they can go on to choose their own path in music. Mr. Nebb’s ultimate goal is to offer students the same teachings and experiences that made him open up to, appreciate and love music. |
